A standalone Matterport scan from most providers runs on my.matterport.com - US servers, no consent banner, no data processing agreement, no GDPR compliance. For a real estate listing, that might be fine. For a congress centre with thousands of visitors, it isn't.
What MESH IMAGES delivers is a fully operational digital product - hosted under my.meshimages.com or your own custom-domain, with a complete legal and technical infrastructure in place before the first visitor clicks. You sign one Data Processing Agreement (AVV) with MESH IMAGES - one document, one signature, done.

FAQs
Does Matterport satisfy the current EU-GDPR requirements (Schrems II)?
Yes. Matterport has Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in place, provides a Transfer Impact Assessment (TIA), and contractually limits data processing to the agreed purpose. Together with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) certification in force since 2023, Matterport meets the legal requirements for transatlantic data transfers under European law. This is the same framework used by enterprise customers across Europe - and it's the basis on which we build our AVV architecture.
What does Matterport actually receive when the tour runs in the browser?
When a visitor opens your tour through my.meshimages.com or your custom domain- Matterport does not receive the visitor's IP address directly. The request is handled through our hosting layer; Matterport receives only the anonymised session data required to stream the 3D model. The visitor's raw IP stays within our infrastructure, subject to our User consent configuration. In practice: the visitor's identity is not exposed to Matterport's systems.
What happens with the 3D Tour scan data itself?
Your 3D scan data is uploaded to Matterport's processing infrastructure for model generation - comparable to how original RAW camera footage are sent to a film lab during post-production. This is a defined, contractually scoped data transfer, not open storage.
Importantly: Matterport does not have the right to publish, sub-license, resell, or otherwise exploit scan data for their own commercial purposes. Under their Terms of Service and the Data Processing Agreement Matterport processes it solely to generate and host the 3D model. Matterport may use anonymised, aggregated technical data for product improvement (e.g., processing performance metrics), but they cannot use your location's spatial geometry for training datasets, third-party licensing, or commercial redistribution.
The processed 3D Tour model, 16K panoramas and all derivative data assets - MatterPak (OBJ/XYZ), E57 point cloud, schematic floor plans, CAD data and BIM model - remain accessible to you in full. You can request all raw data exports at any stage of the project. Matterport is not a lock-in silo.
What about Analytics and User Consent on my website?
Our User Consent Management controls which scripts are allowed to fire. Analytics and the Matterport player load only after visitor consent is given. All user consents are logged, auditable and revovable. This is the architecture which is included in every MESH IMAGES hosting package.

Pricing note: All packages are calculated on indoor capture area. Outdoor areas are captured at approx. 1/5 of the indoor rate per m² - meaning your indoor budget goes five times further outside.
